General information about the joint European Union and United Nations Development Programme project “Support to the development of a comprehensive framework for international environmental cooperation in the Republic of Belarus”.The project aims to extend capacity of the Republic of Belarus in strategic planning and governance in the field of environment and environmental information. In particular, the project suggests approximation of national biodiversity conservation legal framework, water management regulations, MSW management regulations and ecological certification of products to those of the EU to cover the gaps in the current legislation. The project contributes additional efforts to raising awareness by general public about environmental concerns as well as public participation in environmentally-related decision-making processes through actual involvement of general public in playing a stakeholder role during implementation of several pilot projects. Executing Entity is Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (MNREP) of Republic of Belarus.
