As a part of an initiative of the Austrian EU Presidency, the conference "Greening Events" discussed guidance to organizers of events in the EU Member States on how to comply better with ecological and sustainable development criteria. The conference produced guidelines to better organise green events which, among other measures, recommend establishing environmental management and monitoring systems during the preparatory phase and involving the local and regional population and NGOs in the planning of major events. These recommendations may be seen as broadly reflecting principles found in the Aarhus Convention. In English and German.
