What is environmental information?

This United Kingdom Guidance is intended to assist ICO caseworkers and public authorities distinguish environmental information and therefore, decide whether aninformation request should be dealt with under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 or the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The former act transposed the EuropeanDirective 2003/4/EC, sometimes also known as the "Aarhus Directive" on information access. The definitions of "environmental information" contained in the UK legislation and EC Directive are closely based on the Convention's own definition (found in article 2). The Guidance explains each part of the EC definition in detail and provides examples of its application.(Original source: http://www.ico.gov.uk/upload/documents/library/environmental_info_reg/introductory/what_is_environmental_information.pdf)
