United States International Grantmaking (USIG)

The USIG project seeks to promote responsible international philanthropy by easing the barriers to cross-border grantmaking for U.S. foundations, streamlining the communication and reporting procedures required by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, and serving as an educational and informational resource for those interested in doing international grantmaking. Int'l Grantmaking 101 gives an introduction to the practice of international grantmaking. Foundation Types includes resources grouped according to the type of foundation, whether a community foundation or public charity, an independent or operating foundation, or a corporate grantmaker. Issue Areas provides a series of resources based on the types of issues faced by most international grantmakers, including legal issues, operational/administrative issues, and accounting issues. The Resources section has a series of downloadable forms and model documents as well as links to people, organizations, and other information. For Grantseekers contains information useful to people and organizations who are seeking funding for their project(s).
