United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD)

UNRISD is an autonomous UN agency engaging in multidisciplinary research on the social dimensions of contemporary problems affecting development. Through its research, UNRISD stimulates dialogue and contributes to policy debates on key issues of social development within and outside the United Nations system. The UNRISD Timeline for 2000 and beyond, "Taking Responsibility for Social Development", encompasses the following major areas of research: Civil Society and Social Movements; Democracy, Governance and Human Rights; Identities, Conflict and Cohesion; Social Policy and Development; and Technology, Business and Society.
