United Nations Guidance Note on Environmental Human Rights Defenders

As part of the Secretary-General's Call to Action for Human Rights, a practical Guidance Note on Environmental Human Rights Defenders (EHRDs) has been released urging the UN to provide increased support on the ground to EHRDs and outlining concrete actions and recommendations to be taken by UN Country Teams and UN Resident Coordinator Offices to better protect them. The guidance was developed by UNEP in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, UNDP, Resident Coordinator offices, and other UN entities.
