The "Sourcebook on Environmental Funds in Economies in Transition" provides basic information on the main features and activities of twenty-one environmental funds in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union (NIS). The funds provide financial support, usually in the form of grants or soft loans, to a wide range of environmental protection activities. The Sourcebook is a valuable source of information for CEE/NIS fund managers, government officials and their advisors in considering different models of funds and operational procedures. The Sourcebook can also help the donor community in designing technical assistance programs to strengthen the institutional set up of environmental financing in the CEE/NIS region.
