The sixth meeting of the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee was held on 15-17 December 2004 in Geneva. For the first time since the Committee began its work, the question of considering appeals sent by the public, in accordance with the Convention's provisions, appeared on its agenda. In the course of the three-day meeting, the Committee considered five appeals: one from Hungary, two from Kazakhstan, one from Ukraine and one from Turkmenistan. The Ecological Society “Green Salvation,” a non-governmental organization based in Almaty, Kazakhstan, submitted two appeals in the spring of 2004 which were considered at this meeting.(Original source: http://www.greensalvation.org/English/Facts/H_rights/6th_meet_aarhus_co…)
