Resource web portal developed by the Universal Rights Group, UNEP, Global Witness, N1M and the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights and environment brings together information about the threats facing environmental human rights defenders (EHRDs), and resources that they and others can use. The portal describes the obligations States have under international human rights law to protect them; explains how to bring claims to international and regional human rights mechanisms; provides links to organisations that can provide technical and financial assistance; offers some inspiring stories
The portal is open for contributions from all interested and supportive stakeholders (UN experts, NGOs, academics, and HRDs themselves). It is also a ‘living’ platform that will hopefully be regularly updated and expanded. The common goal is to provide a resource that is genuinely useful for EHRDs, and will make a small contribution to supporting their work and defending their rights.
