The project “Replicating LEAPs Experience to Three New Communities in the South Caucasus” is being implemented by the Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus within the Environmental Policy and LEAPs Programme. Since February 2003, REC Caucasus has implemented the project “Local Environmental Action Plans” in the three South Caucasus countries. The pilot LEAPs projects have demonstrated that South Caucasus cities can implement participatory approaches to community problem-solving. The new LEAP project will help decision-makers in local and regional governments, industries, and NGOs rank environmental protection needs, develop plans of action to address priority problems, and implement cost-effective actions that reduce pollution and save consumers’ and industries’ money.(Original source: http://www.rec-caucasus.org/recc/index.php?f=12&su=12030010040&t=index)
