The Deliberative Democracy ConsortiumProject on Public Participationin Response to Global Climate Change promotes deliberation within the public as a prerequisite for the public support needed to construct, implement, and sustain national and international policies to address climate change. The Consortium is endeavoring to identify and map the best practices in the field of public engagement and citizen participation onto this issue, and to assemble resources (e.g., guidance for choosing between deliberative methods, assembling briefing material, locating instructive narratives and case studies, and collecting research on outcomes) that will enable people around the world to emulate these exemplary practices. The information gathered through the online survey aims will contribute to convening an Expert Panel on Citizen Deliberation on Climate Change in the fall of 2008 and in 2009.
