PollutionWatch is a source of information about the toxic pollution that facilities release in Canadian communities. On this web site, you can search by postal code for polluters in local areas; search for facilities releasing Criteria Air Contaminants (pollutants that cause smog and acid rain); obtain information about the health effects associated with specific pollutants and groups of chemicals and find out if they are tracked by the Canadian federal government as part of the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI). The site also allows users to email directly facilities or the federal Minister of Environment to voice their concerns about pollution in Canada. With pollution rankings listing the top polluters in Canada, downloadable lesson plans and an analysis of pollution trends from 1995 to 2002.
