Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR)

The ODIHR promotes democratic election processes through in-depth observation of national and local elections and conducts election assistance projects that enhance meaningful participatory democracy. ODIHR's long-term programmes and targeted projects aim to strengthen civil society and democratic governance practices. It also contributes to early warning and conflict prevention by monitoring the implementation of OSCE human dimension commitments and providing regular human rights training for government authorities, civil society, and OSCE staff in participating States. ODIHR's grassroots initiative encourages the development of small-scale democratization projects, which are often developed in co-operation with local non-governmental organizations.
