Legal Guide to Weblogs

This guide provides a basic roadmap to the legal issues that weblog publishers ('bloggers') may confront and encourages online publishers to blog freely with the knowledge that their legitimate speech is protected. It gives an overview of legal liability issues which affect bloggers, especially situations where they may face legal claims or threats based on the information they publish. Also included are information on intellectual property and privacy rights; defamation, election and labor law; and reporter's privilege and media access. Please note that this guide applies to people living in the United States.
