This document examines actions undertaken by Kazakh governmental bodies in the field of access to information, public participation in decision-making and access to justice. It had been prepared for the Central Asian NGOs’ Conference on experience exchange and initiatives implementation in the field of access to information, public participation and access to justice in environmental matters (Almaty, May 21, 2005). The document provides with an overview of public environmental movement in Kazakhstan, NGOs’ financial sources and relations with the State, public involvement into environmental decision-making and obstacles to the implementation of the Convention.
