The Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) has served as the model for many countries’ Chemical Right-To-Know programs and laws. Within the next few years, more than 30 nations are expected to have a TRI-like system, known internationally as Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTRs). The intent of this report is to provide the reader with an overview of the different ways in which the TRI data are used in the United States and internationally.(Original source: http://www.epa.gov/tri/guide_docs/2003_datausepaper.pdf)
