Greek Ombudsman

The Greek Ombudsman is a constitutionally sanctioned Independent Authority. The purpose of the Greek Ombudsman is to mediate s between public administration and private individuals, for the purpose of to protect ing citizens' rights, their ensur ing compliance with the rule of law rights, observe the rule of law, and combat ing maladministration. The Greek Ombudsman investigates individual administrative actions or omissions or material actions taken by government departments or public services that infringe upon the personal rights or violate the legal interests of individuals or legal entities. Complaints are accepted from anyone, regardless of nationality, who has a problem with a Greek public service, anywhere in Greece or abroad.As a mediator, the Greek Ombudsman makes recommendations and puts forward specific proposals towards the public administration.
