GAINS Asia: A tool to combat air pollution and climate change simultaneously

The GAINS-Asia project has developed a state-of-the-art disciplinary model to assess the co-benefits of air pollution and greenhouse gas emission reductions. The tool allows the interactive assessment of the cost-effectiveness and benefits analyses for a wide range of technical and market-based policy options, and identifies combinations of policies aimed at reducing long-range and hemispheric air pollution alongside greenhouse gas emissions. GAINS-Asia is being implemented for China, India, and 43 European countries including Russia.
