The French register of industrial pollutant emissions and animal husbandry was launched on the Internet on April 4, 2005. Thanks to this Internet site, 14,000 data reports concerning 3,500 industrial plants and 300 breeding sites are accessible to the public. The access to the data is facilitated by an intuitive cartographic approach. This site supplements data already accessible to public through the site http://www.ecologie.gouv.fr. The register presents annual flows of emitted pollutants and waste produced by classified installations subject to prefectoral authorization. It covers 100 pollutants emitted to water, 50 emitted to air (in particular, toxic and carcinogenic substances) and 400 categories of dangerous waste. In 2005 and 2006, the French register will be upgraded to be in conformity with the obligations of UNECE Protocol on PRTRs.
