Rating environmental performance of enterprises and disclosing publicly the rating results has proved to be a promising complement to conventional regulation. Following expression of interest by environmental authorities in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) the PRIDE concept was presented and discussed within the framework of the EECCA Regulatory Environmental Programme Implementation Network (REPIN) and then included into REPIN’s Work Programme 2003-2007. The Secretariat launched an assessment of the feasibility of implementing the PRIDE scheme in Ukraine. This has led to a subsequent implementation of the scheme at the regional level in the Lviv oblast of Ukraine.
