EPL, formerly called Ecopravo, provides assistance to individuals and legal persons in the protection of environmental rights, to promote the development of the environment protection and environmental education. It provides legal consultations in the sphere of environment protection and represents individuals and legal persons in court in cases related to the violation of environmental legislation. EPL also collects and disseminates environmental information and maintains an environmental law library. Through a special programme EPL promotes education of environmental lawyers and organizes training programs and workshops for state bodies, judges, prosecutors and NGOs.
