Biosafety and Ethics in Africa – Workshop in Accra, Ghana

On the initiative of the UN Economic Commission for Africa, an International Workshop on Biosafety and Ethics was held in Accra, Ghana, from 16 to 20 January 2006. Presentations and debates centred on biotechnology and genetic engineering possibilities for food, biological risk assessment and management, the international regulatory system and standard setting, scientific uncertainty and risk perception, and biosafety and related ethical aspects.
