The 2nd International Conference on the Organic Sector Development in Central/Eastern European and Central Asian countries will encompass various aspects of agricultural production focussing on practical experiences and research of plant production, wild collection, horticulture, animal husbandry and especially viticulture and wine making. The new EU Regulation on organic farming as well as certification aspects - including others then organic (e.g. Fairtrade) - will be the second focus of the conference. A number of changes are underway due to the EU Organic Regulations which became law on 1 January 2009. The new European Union (EU) organic logo, still to be decided, will be required to be used on all produce packed, or packed and labelled, in the EU.
