Armenia: Civil Groups to Raise Armenia's Non-Compliance Issue at Aarhus Convention Gathering in Netherlands

In 2008, 2011 and 2013 the Compliance Committee of the Aarhus Convention established that on the matters of Dalma Gardens and illegal exploitation of Teghut copper mine, the government of Armenia failed to ensure fulfillment of human rights as prescribed by the Convention and set forth recommendations to the Armenian government. To date, none of these recommendations has been implemented.

Civil society representatives of Armenia participating in the Maastricht meeting will present  a statement to the Parties calling upon them to adopt a resolution that will force the Armenian government take concrete steps to fully meet the convention and carry out the previous recommendations.

We are appealing to the civil society organizations (including civic initiatives), representatives of science and education, parliamentarians, office of the Human Rights Defender, international organizations, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Armenia and all other entities and individuals concerned with human rights and accountability of Armenian government to join the statement to be presented at the Maastricht meeting.
