Bishkek to the "round table" discussed the draft of the fourth national report on the implementation of the Aarhus Convention "On Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters."
According to the press service of the State Agency of Environment and Forestry of Kyrgyzstan, the roundtable was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, NGOs, businesses, international organizations (OSCE, UNDP).
All participants at the round table was presented for discussion a draft national report on the implementation of the Aarhus Convention. Kyrgyzstan acceded to the Aarhus Convention in 2001, and thus has committed itself to the international community to guarantee the right of access to information, public participation in decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters, says the state agency.
Also, according to Article 10 of the Aarhus Convention, the meeting of the Parties shall review the implementation of the Convention on the basis of regular reporting by the Parties. At the fourth session (Chisinau, 2011) Meeting of the Parties adopted decision IV / 4, stating the format for reporting under the current reporting cycle. Parties should reconsider its previous report (submitted in 2010) and submit it to an updated version of the Convention Secretariat.
