New book (available in e-form): Public Participation in Environmental Decision-Making: Implementation of the Aarhus Convention

The book collects the implementation experience of representatives of six Parties to the Aarhus Convention, and is divided into three parts.

Part I introduces the Aarhus Convention and provides an overview of its content, features, and implementation. Part II presents a set of ‘implementation portraits’ for five European countries; Czech Republic, Poland, Slovak Republic, Germany and Montenegro. Part III shines a spotlight on some specific problems connected with Aarhus Convention implementation, including public participation in the creation of Natura 2000 areas, and common problems of public participation guarantees in planning development and use of land. Part III also analyses how the institution of Public Defender of Rights (Ombudsman) may be helpful to effective implementation of the Aarhus Convention.

The book is available at http://www.ilaw.cas.cz/get.php?file=data/files/epub/aarhus_fin.pdf (in English).
