The State Agency for Environmental Protection of Kyrgyzstan is preparing a report on the implementation of the Aarhus Convention

According to the website of the State Agency, Kyrgyzstan acceded to the Aarhus Convention in 2001 and thereby committed itself to the international community to guarantee the right of access to information, public participation in decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters.

 

In 2004, Kyrgyzstan has been selected as one of three pilot countries for the program for Training and Research Institute (UNITAR) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) to assist countries in the preparation of a National Profile to assess the ability of the country to implement the Aarhus Convention. National Profile has been prepared with the involvement of a wide range of stakeholders.
