Water governance has emerged as a key area for enriching public participation in environment decision-making. To overcome the serious problems of scarcity and degradation, governance systems must become more effective. Legislation has to take different stakeholder perspectives into account, including upstream and downstream interests and impacts.
This workshop asks "How can true participatory dialogue be organized in order to get the best solutions? Which are the five main barriers and how can they be overcome?"
Among the topics it will address are "Civil Society Participation in Decentralization – An Increasingly Popular Model for Water Resources Policy" and "CLEAR WATER: Transparency & Accountability in the Governance of Water."
The Workshop Programme commences on Tuesday, 14 August 2007, at 9 am, in Folkets Hus, Hall B, Stockholm City Conference Centre.
The 2007 World Water Week in Stockholm takes place August 12-18 at the Stockholm City Conference Centre (CCC).
