EMEP is a scientifically based and policy driven program under the Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution (LRTAP) for international co-operation to solve transboundary air pollution problems. The main objective of the EMEP programme is to regularly provide Governments and subsidiary bodies under the LRTAP Convention with qualified scientific information to support the development and further evaluation of the international protocols on emission reductions negotiated within the Convention. The Chemical Coordinating Centre of EMEP coordinates the measurement programme of EMEP which includes measurements of many substances found in national Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTRs). The site also contains links to information on the activity levels, emission factors, emission control options and their related costs used in the CIAM RAINS integrated assessment model; and provides further information on acidifying and eutrophying pollutants, photooxidant pollutants, heavy metals, persistent organic pollutants and particulate matter.
