Freedom of Information Law for Fiji

In Fiji, the right to freedom of information appears in the Constitution as the “freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas” – which is part of the right to freedom of expression. Section 174 of the Constitution provides that the Parliament should enact a law to give members of the public rights of access to official documents of the Government and its agencies. Citizens' Constitutional Forum (CCF) promotes understanding of a proposed law on freedom of information implementing these Constitutional provisions. The web site also contains documents, speeches, an electronic forum and links to resources related to constitutional and human rights.
