The 2024 Aarhus Centres meeting, held in Serbia (Belgrade) and online, focused on integrating youth and children’s perspectives into environmental decision-making. It was organised by the OSCE, UNECE, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia and the Aarhus Centre New Belgrade. The event brought together over 70 representatives from the Aarhus Centres, national and local authorities, international organizations, civil society and OSCE field operations to discuss the role of Aarhus Centres in implementing the key pillars of the Aarhus Convention. 2024, the meeting mainly focused on advancing environmental democracy and implementing SDG 16. Key discussions highlighted climate education and public participation, with a special focus on youth and children involvement.
