Eco-Justice project aims to strengthen the environmental rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina by improving access to environmental justice, promoting human rights and supporting people-centered environmental public policies and services.
The project components included:
- Harmonize the legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Union acquis - Support for drafting the necessary legislative changes to the environmental laws and criminal codes, to ensure their harmonization with the European Union environmental acquis.
- Strengthen procedural framework for law enforcement agencies - Develop clear standard operating procedures for coordination and responses to environmental incidents and accidents, by law enforcement agencies.
- Advance training curriculum for students and practitioners - Integrated changes to the judicial and prosecutorial training curriculum, whereby the inclusion of environmental criminal law training would improve the capacity for its enforcement in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Improve the understanding and exercise of environmental human rights - Environmental human rights are understood, adequately mapped and reported.
