Global Barometer (GB) surveys ask what people are thinking in new democracies by interviewing nationwide representative samples in Africa, East Asia, the new post-communist Europe, and in Latin America. Questions cover social, economic and political conditions. Since 1991 more than 250 surveys have been undertaken in more than 55 countries. GB surveys report indicators for political participation, trust in institutions, political freedom etc.
