The Convention on the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians (Carpathian Convention) was adopted in 2003 and entered into force in 2006. Chapters K. and L. of the Handbook on the Convention address Article 12 – Environmental assessment/information system, monitoringand early warning and Article 13 Awareness-raising, education and public participation, respectively, with references and examples drawn from the Aarhus and Espoo Conventions.
