HURIDOCS is a global network of human rights organizations concerned with human rights information. It was formed from the realization that information and communication technologies are being used by commercial companies and government agencies, sometimes in aid of committing human rights violations. Its loosely affiliated members believe that the community of non-governmental human rights organizations need to familiarize themselves with these tools and benefit from using them in an appropriate and compatible way. HURIDOCS provides a number of services that will lead to more effective information work by its constituency, among them:Basic tools for monitoring, information handling and document control; Development of standards in information handling; Teaching and training; Advice on the establishment/strengthening of information systems; Advice on software and technological developments; and Facilitation of cooperation among documentation centres.
