US EPA invites public comment on proposed burden reductions to Toxics Release

The US Environmental Protection Agency has proposed major changes to the reporting requirements of the Toxics Release Inventory Program. Phase I changes of the Burden Reduction Proposed Rule were adopted earlier this year; Phase II of the Proposed Rule is currently open for public comment. The EPA's formal public comment process on the proposed rule change ends on 13 January 2006. To comment on the formal proposal, submissions should include EPA's Docket ID No. : TRI–2005–0073

UPDATE (9 January 2006):

 

On 22 November 2005, EPA formally granted a 39-day extension of the public comment period. The new deadline for public comment is 13 January 2006.

 

On 25 November 2005, EPA shutdown its online docket and moved the TRI rulemaking, along with all of its current regulatory actions, to the regulations.gov site. The transition is part of an effort to consolidate e-rulemaking activities and improve consistency across agencies.

Click on 'Docket ID' (furthest left), to review submitted comments, proposals and background documents

 

To submit comments online through the site: Click on 'Add Comments' which appears furthest right

 

Comments on the TRI proposals are still being accepted through the earlier methods listed above.
