Turkmenistan prepares action plan within Convention on Biological Diversity

A biodiversity strategy and an action plan will be presented at the meeting. The requirements of the convention on the integration will be examined. The national and international priorities in preserving biodiversity were presented, the statement says.

The Convention on Biological Diversity was presented for signing at a high level meeting in Rio de Janeiro on June 5, 1992 and entered into force on December 29, 1993. It has 193 members.

The components of biodiversity are all different forms of life on Earth, including ecosystems, animals, plants, micro-organisms and genetic diversity.

Turkmenistan joined several most important UN environmental conventions, namely, the Convention to Combat Desertification, the Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the "Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer", Basel convention, Aarhus convention, the Ramsar Convention, a number of protocols to the Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer.
