Special Rapporteur cites UNECE Aarhus Convention as a “leading example” in implementing human rights obligations relating to the environment

The Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment, John Knox, presented the Aarhus Convention as a “leading example” for a human rights perspective on environmental protection to the Human Rights Council in his Implementation Report on March 4, 2016.
In the opinion of the Aarhus Convention's secretary, joining efforts will help to promote more effective implementation of human rights obligations relating to the environment.
