European countries' performance on meeting the requirements of the Aarhus Convention will be in the spotlight at the upcoming Euroepan Environmental Bureau (EEB) Seminar on the Aarhus EU Legislation. The seminar will take place the Thon Hotel in Brussels City Centre, on 6 June 2007.
Jeremy Wates, Secretary to the UNECE Aarhus Convention, will deliver the day's keynote speech on the Convention's inter-linkages with EU Directives. Ralph Hallo, EEB President, will present preliminary results of the survey of EU countries' performance in implementation of EU Aarhus legislation. The seminar will also include a session on the EU Directive on Access to Justice, led by Emilia Liaska, Ellinki Etaria (Greece), and discussion on whether there will be an EU Directive on Access to Justice, led by Pavel Cerny of the Environmental Law Service (Czech Republic).The seminar is being organized through the support of the Spanish Fundacion Biodiversidad and the Commission of the European Communities.
