Riparians of NPP are granted the right to sue the decisions of the Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate ( ENSI) . The Federal Court ruled in favor of two Bernese domiciled near Mühleberg .
In 2011 , they had wanted to appeal against a decision of the ENSI who wanted to use mobile pumps for cooling the plant in case of extreme floods . They were rejected by ENSI .
Greenpeace satisfied
This ruling now requires ENSI to adjudicate formally, allowing neighbors to challenge its assessment and therefore able to file an appeal.
Greenpeace welcomed Friday’s ruling by the High Court, challenging the " omnipotence of ENSI ." According to Florian Kasser , responsible for nuclear campaign of Greenpeace Switzerland, " the verdict of the Federal Court is a terrible blow for the Federal Inspection" .
