New global survey of access to government records laws released

Date published:

An annual survey of the Right-to-Know movement, “Freedom of Information Around the World 2006: A Global Survey of Access to Government Records Laws”, has been released on 4 July by freedominfo.org, an online network of freedom of information advocates. The survey examines 68 countries’ freedom of information laws and practices without attempting to draw conclusions about international trends. The survey also provides information on Signatories and Parties to the Aarhus Convention.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

An earlier study, “The World's Right to Know”, published in 2002 by the journal Foreign Policy, found that 26 countries had adopted freedom of information laws during the past decade.
