Kazakhstan: OSCE seminar to discuss water scarcity problems in Kazakhstan

A seminar-training on provisions of the Aarhus Convention in the light of transition of Kazakhstan to the "green economy" in the sector of water resources of North Kazakhstan will take place on August 26-27 in Petropavlovsk.  It is organized by the OSCE Centre in Astana, North Kazakhstan Aarhus Centre, North Kazakhstan State University. The purpose of the event is to raise public awareness on provisions of the Aarhus Convention in the light of transition of Kazakhstan to the "green economy" and discussion of water scarcity problems in the region, including drinking water, dependence of public health on its quality and establishment of Regional Water Centre. The activity forms an integral part of the Centre's activities in implementation of the Aarhus Convention and reflects the OSCE strategy for achieving adequate environmental security at the national and regional levels, the OSCE Centre in Astana said.
