The Delegation of the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme organized a tour for journalists to show results on water saving innovation in the city's social institutions. A contest was recently held in Kazakhstan in which young people were given the opportunity to realize their design approaches to water conservation in rural areas. Four out of all projects that won the competition were implemented in Stepnogorsk. The competition was held under the joint project "Support to Kazakhstan for the transition to a green economy model" of the European Union Development Programme and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. It is designed to assist the country in the implementation of the principles of a successful "green" economy and the transfer of European Union experience in the field of "green" technologies and efficient water management.
