Guidance for clearinghouse national nodes under review by e-tools task force

Following the recent decision on electronic information tools and the clearing-house mechanism taken by the Second Meeting of the Parties to the Aarhus Convention in Almaty, the E-tools task force is expected to review draft guidance for national nodes of the Aarhus Clearinghouse for Environmental Democracy. The guidance will used in a programme of capacity-building workshops being developed by the experts' group to promote public access to enviornmental information.

The adopted Recommendations on the more effective use of electronic information tools to provide public access to environmental information, contained in an annex to the Almaty decision, will later be presented by the Aarhus Convention secretariat at the World Forum on Information Society, in Tunis, on 14 November 2005.  The Recommendations contain priority areas of electronic information governments should consider when building environmental information systems for the public.
