Germany ratifies the Aarhus Convention

Reference: C.N.27.2007.TREATIES-1 (Depositary Notification) CONVENTION ON ACCESS TO INFORMATION, PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN DECISION-MAKING AND ACCESS TO JUSTICE IN ENVIRONMENTAL MATTERSAARHUS, DENMARK, 25 JUNE 1998 GERMANY: RATIFICATION 
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, acting in his capacity as depositary, communicates the following:

 The above action was effected on 15 January 2007.

 The Convention will enter into force for Germany on 15 April 2007 in accordance with its article 20 (3) which reads as follows: "For each State or organization referred to in article 17 which ratifies, accepts or approves this Convention or accedes thereto after the deposit of the sixteenth instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession, this Convention shall enter into force on the ninetieth day after the date of deposit by such State or organization of its instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession."                                                                                                 16 January 2007            [Signed by:  Secretary-General ban-Ki Moon]                            BM
