Germany: The federal government's hydrogen strategy

Members of the German National Hydrogen Council from civil society, including the German Climate Alliance and the German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation, are advocating for targeted improvements in the updated National Hydrogen Strategy. These suggested improvements include reinforcing the prioritization of certain hydrogen application areas, establishing explicit sustainability criteria for green hydrogen production, and integrating social and ecological sustainability standards into global energy partnerships. This can help to maximize the effectiveness of the strategy in accelerating a rapid hydrogen ramp-up for climate protection while ensuring compliance with the Aarhus Convention regarding public participation and access to justice pillars.
