Citizens who want to prevent the installation of a new business park in their vicinity accuse the Senate of deprivation of the district assembly’s power. Earlier, the district exchange had rejected the petition for a referendum, stating that it was no longer responsible after the intervention by the regional authorities. According to the citizen’s initiative, the Senate’s usage of the right of evocation constitutes a quasi-disempowerment. The 1,900 signatures against the building of the business park which were collected to date are nevertheless planned to be given to the meeting of the Main Committee in Wandsbek. Furthermore, the initiative announced that it might also rely on article 9 of the Aarhus Convention in order to sue the Senate. However, even if the vote will take place, the Senate could still oversteer it.
