The Association notes that according to information, spread by the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources, term of mining license has been extended to “RMG Gold”, allowing the company to conduct operation on Sakdrisi-Kachagiani gold deposit for the next 5 years.
“The appropriate administrative authorities’ decision on accelerated extension of “RMG Gold”’s license contradicts to the spirit of Aarhus Convention”, the Association declares.
Besides, the organization points that extension of the license “does not apply automatically to the company a right to carry out large-scale works in Sakdrisi-Kachagiani, as according to Tbilisi city court decision of May 30, 2014, the company’s right to conduct large-scale works in Sakdrisi-Kachagiani is suspended”.
To remind, based on decisions, taken by the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection and Cultural Heritage Protection Agency, “RMG Gold” has resumed the works on December 12, 2014.
The Association promises “to present a new research to public, which concerns recent developments around the ancient gold mine of Sakdrisi-Kachagiani”.
