Deadline extended for consultation on long-term strategic plan for the Aarhus Convention

The deadline for comment on the draft elements for a long-term strategic plan for the Aarhus Convention has been extended by one month to the end of May 2007 to allow further opportunities for public comment. This is part of a process that is expected to lead to the adoption of a long-term strategic plan for the Convention by the Meeting of the Parties at its third meeting (June 2008). The draft elements were prepared by the Convention's Ad Hoc Expert Group on Long-Term Strategic Planning, which will hold its second meeting in June 2007.

In order to ensure an open and inclusive process, the draft elements are being circulated to stakeholders and made available on the Convention’s website for public comment.  Details of the modalities for submitting comments are contained in the document itself.
