At its sixth meeting, the Working Group of the Parties to the Aarhus Convention agreed an approach to development of an international workshop on Public Participation in International Forums (PPIF). The proposed workshop will provide a forum within which Aarhus Parties and representatives of various other international forums would exchange experiences of their practices with respect to the themes of access to information, public participation in decision making and access to justice. The workshop will also be used to receive feedback on the application of the Almaty Guidelines on PPIF.
The Almaty Guidelines on Promoting the Application of the Principles of the Aarhus Convention in International Forums were adopted at the Second Meeting of the Parties to the Convention in May 2005. The guidelines are available as an annex to decision II/4 at:
